The curriculum of the IBO represent an octagon in the area of interaction "Community and Service" near the center which is represented by the students This position signifies the close relationship that must exist between the knowledge acquired at school and the real world.

The area of interaction "Community and Service" is one of the most important components of the MYP program. It helps students to have a global vision of the community in which they live and the activty they can take to help those in need. Participation in various activities of "Community and Service" develops in students the ten qualities listed in the learner Profile, such as altruism, openness and communication.

On the other hand, we can consider the actions of "Community and Service" as actions to help the community or its members, which requires the personal commitment of the student.

These activities allow students to feel the joy of there commitment and experience a real ability, that is limited but effective to change the way of things.
